Build Your Own Multi-touch Surface For $350
![]()
Want to be able to piece together your own multi-touch surface computer to impress your friends when they come by for a beer? whether you’ve got $350 to spare, and have the patience to read through some instructions, you might be able to do just that. Some folks out there have come up with a nice multi-touch surface computer in a homemade wood cabinet that sports a transparent acrylic top. The acrylic surface sports infrared LEDs which generates a layer of light on the sheet, and when touched, the IR light is reflected downward into the cabinet where a modified PlayStation 3 Eye webcam equipped with an IR sensor captures the touches. It might sound a little complicated, and took the team about two weeks to put together, but whether you’re intrigued about that project, check out a video of it in action after the jump.
